Evidence-based care for HG in Pregnancy and IV Ondansetron
session focuses on safe and evidence-informed use of intravenous nutrient therapy and in-office compounding in pregnancy and lactation. The first half of the session (IVIT) reviews physiological changes in pregnancy that impact IV therapy, nutrient selection and compatibility, and infusion protocols that support maternal and fetal well-being. The second half (Pharmacology) explores the pharmacokinetics of key micronutrients in pregnancy, evidence for use, contraindications, and safety considerations for compounded ingredients and delivery forms. Clinical case examples will be used throughout to highlight best practices, informed consent, and interprofessional collaboration. This session equips regulated healthcare providers with knowledge and tools to safely deliver IV and compounded therapies to pregnant and postpartum patients.
Dr. Lynne Racette is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor in good standing with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario, with over eight years of clinical experience in both in-person and virtual care settings. She maintains a general family practice with a special focus on hormone health, thyroid disorders, fertility and pregnancy care, pediatric health, and integrative approaches to skin and metabolic conditions. Dr. Racette holds prescribing authority in Ontario and is certified to provide therapeutic hormone replacement therapy, as well as injection and intravenous nutrient therapy. She has extensive experience managing complex hormonal concerns, including PCOS, perimenopause, weight loss resistance, and burnout. In addition to her naturopathic training, Dr. Racette has worked as a labour and birth attendant (doula) and has completed extensive additional education in pregnancy and lactation support.
